James has been with the School of Professional Communication since the launch of its Master of Professional Communication program in 2010. In his role as Creative Technologies Lead, he provides advice to ProCom students, faculty and staff as they realize their course-related creative technology needs. James is responsible for designing, building and maintaining the School's technology service offerings, including the ProCom fleXlabs and ProCom Practicum Centre. James regularly leads production technology workshops for tools ranging all the way from single camera video production to Adobe Creative Cloud apps to Data Analytics tools.
James holds a BA in Radio and Televisions Arts from Ryerson University. He also holds an MA in Communication and Culture (York and Ryerson Universities). His SSHRC-funded graduate research looked at the intersection of physical space and the Facebook Mobile app. James' work discussed to what extent Facebook Mobile created a distributed labour network capable of extending Facebook's virtual influence into physical space.
