Originally from Montreal, Fotios did his undergraduate degree at Concordia Univeristy and his MA and PhD at the University of Toronto. A co-author of the textbook Reporting Technical Information, 2nd Canadian Edition, he has also published articles on Michael Ondaatjee and Henry James.
Fotios has taught a wide array of courses at Ryerson, ranging from Technical Report Writing to Intercultural Communication. He has been active in curricular development at both the undergraduate and graduate level and has run corporate workshops. Apart from teaching at Ryerson, he has worked as a freelance copywriter and editor, as well as a journalist, scriptwriter, stage technician, door-to-door salesperson, taxi driver, janitor, foundry worker, hotel housekeeper, and soda jerk.
