Wendy Freeman, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Professional Communication at The Creative School.

Her research examines issues related to technology use for teaching in higher education. Specifically, she uses a sociotechnical lens to bring critical awareness to intended and unintended consequences of using emerging technologies in education. Research projects have explored how university faculty understand and shape the use of technologies as they integrate new technology into their teaching. Recently, this has taken a turn toward online and open pedagogies, AI, and futures speculation.

Wendy served as the Graduate Program Director for the Master of Professional Communication from 2012-2016 and was the inaugural Executive Director for TMU’s Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching from 2019-2022. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the School of Professional Communication and supervises graduate students in the Master of Professional Communication and the Masters in Digital Media.
