Originally from Montreal, Fotios completed graduate studies at the University of Toronto, receiving a PhD in English in 1997. He has been teaching at Ryerson since September 1996. A co-author of the textbook Reporting Technical Information, 2nd Canadian Edition, he has also published articles on the novels of Michael Ondaatjee and Henry James.
Fotios has taught a wide array of courses at Ryerson, ranging from Technical Report Writing to Contemporary Intercultural Communication. He has been active in curricular development at both the undergraduate and graduate level and has run workshops for the university’s Corporate and Professional Training Services. Besides teaching, he works as a freelance copywriter and editor, and has also worked in the past as a journalist, scriptwriter, stage technician, door-to-door salesperson, taxi driver, janitor, foundry worker, hotel housekeeper, and soda jerk.
