Continue reading →]]> Dr. Janice Fung’s exhibition entitled Brand for Blindness will open its doors from July 24-26, 2013 at the Ryerson Oakham House. For more information on Janice’s work regarding the reception and perception of brands for blind and low vision audiences, visit her project’s website, Brand for Blindness.

Brands extend beyond a company logo or trademark and holistically embody commercial culture and lifestyle through haptic and sensory stimuli. This exhibition explores the reception and perception of brands for blind and low vision audiences in a creative and interactive format. The examination of sensory branding seeks to increase business value for organizations and enhance information accessibility. This particular study aims to heighten effective message delivery, and improve social equality for the visually impaired.

This exhibition has been supported by the Ryerson University Creative Fund Grant.

The grant will support a workshop on historical and cultural analysis of the infrastructures, practices and technologies which mediate ocean space. Participants will explore the role of marine parks, aquariums, satellite imaging, sonar networks, transoceanic telecommunications cables, oceanographic maps and other forms of aquatic media in transforming perceptions of the ocean and entities within it.
